Amy James

Legal Practice Director / Co-Founder / Co-Owner

Amy graduated from the University of Newcastle (NSW) in 2010 with a Bachelor of Laws and Business and Diploma of Legal Practice. She was admitted as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and High Court of Australia in 2011.

Amy also completed her Masters of Applied Law (Family Law) with the College of Law in 2020. Amy has practised exclusively in Family Law for her entire career and has extensive experience in all aspects of Family Law.

Amy is passionate about helping her clients reach an amicable and fair resolution to the issues that arise following the breakdown of a marriage or de-facto relationship by taking a practical approach to settling matters.

Whilst Amy is a skilled negotiator, she is also a competent litigator and guides clients through the challenging Family Court process (if necessary) where a negotiated outcome cannot be reached. Amy has represented clients to Trial on complex parenting and property matters, including a successful Full Court of the Family Court of Australia appeal in 2012.

A divorce or separation is one of the most traumatic events a person can experience and Amy is focused on ensuring that her clients can transition as smoothly as possible into the next phase of their life. Amy’s passion for working hard and helping others stems from the advice and sacrifices made by her late parents.

Outside of work, Amy and her husband enjoy being challenged daily by their strong-willed and vibrant toddler who is the love of their life. Amy is also an animal lover and adopted a rescue dog in 2022.
